National currency of Uzbekistan - sum (UZS, code 153), was issued July 1, 1994 A sum consists of 100 tiyinov. Currently in circulation are the following types of notes - 1, 3, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1000 sum. Banknotes sum is less than 25 have virtually disappeared from circulation. The same thing happened to coin the sum is less than 25.
Sum is the sole legal tender in the Republic of Uzbekistan (Article 122 of the Constitution and Article 11 of the Law "On the Foundations of State Independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan" and the decision of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan from September 3, 1993 № 952-XII).
