Description
Stopping to rest at a village house, Tsar Saltan falls in love with Annushka, a sweet, kind, and simple girl. Annushka marries the Tsar and bears him a son. Her sisters and stepmother are lucky enough to find themselves in the royal palace following Annushka, as if by the wave of a magic wand. But the sisters and stepmother do not appreciate their fortune; desiring more, they weave a web of intrigue. While Saltan is away, they swap a letter and cast Annushka and the newborn heir in a bad light before the Tsar. Saltan is furious but orders them to await his return; however, the letter containing the order is swapped again. As a result, the Tsaritsa and her son are sealed in a barrel and thrown into the ocean to their certain doom.
