New postal codes of Uzbekistan

In accordance with the order of the Uzbek Communications and Informatization Agency dated October 28, 2005 No. 270, new postal codes of the Republic of Uzbekistan were put into effect.

The new six-digit postal indexing of the Republic of Uzbekistan is built taking into account the territorial affiliation of the structural divisions of the postal service and settlements to the administrative entities of the republic.

The introduction of new postal codes will significantly improve the quality of services provided by further improving technological processes.

The new postal code consists of six characters and looks like this for the regions of the Republic of Uzbekistan:

- the first two digits of the index indicate the conditional code of the regional center or the territory of the region;

- the third and fourth digits of the index indicate the conditional code of the district center, territory of the district or city of regional subordination;

- the fifth and sixth digits of the index indicate the conditional code of the post office (post office).

For example: index 120216 means

12 – Syrdarya region 02 – Bayautsky district 16 – post office serving the settlement of Usmanabad.

The new postal code for the city of Tashkent has its own peculiarity, in contrast to the regions of the republic. The postal code of the city of Tashkent is as follows:

- the first three digits of the index indicate the conditional code of the city of Tashkent;

- the second three digits of the index indicate the number of the post office of the city of Tashkent.

For example: index 100123 means
