ELECTRIC MOTOR REPAIR

Main stages of the process:

1. Diagnostics and troubleshooting: checking the insulation resistance with a megohmmeter, searching for breaks, interturn short circuits, and mechanical wear.

2. Disassembly and cleaning: remove pulleys and bearing shields, remove the rotor, and wash all components.

3. Component refurbishment:

  • Electrical: winding replacement (rewinding), varnishing, and drying.
  • Mechanical: bearing replacement, shaft repair (eliminate wobble), and terminal boxes.

4. Assembly and balancing: install the rotor, adjust clearances, and balance to eliminate vibration.

5. Testing: idle and load testing before commissioning.

MAJOR OVERHAUL OF DC GENERATORS AND MOTORS

1. Complete disassembly and cleaning: disassembly of all components, cleaning of carbon dust, oil, and dirt.

2. Armature and Winding Repair:

  • Check for interturn short circuits and open circuits.
  • Rewinding: Complete replacement of the armature windings and magnetic system (stator) if the insulation is damaged.
  • Impregnation of the windings with varnish and drying in an oven.

3. Commutator-Brush Assembly Repair:

  • Turning and Grinding: Elimination of runout, carbon deposits, and wear on the commutator.
  • Grooving: Cleaning the insulation between the copper commutator plates.
  • Replacement of worn brushes and calibration of the brush holder spring force.

4. Mechanical Parts:

  • Replacement of bearings and restoration of their seats.
  • Balancing the armature to eliminate vibration.
  • Repair or replacement of the shaft.

5. Testing: Insulation resistance measurement, heating and vibration testing under load for a specified time (according to the Electrical Installation Code/PTEEP).

INDUSTRIAL INDUCTION FURNACE REPAIR

The following are critical for metallurgical and foundry plants:

1. Lining: Regular lining repacking and crucible replacement are necessary when they are worn by more than 30%.

2. Cooling system: Inspection of inductor tubes for scale and corrosion, as well as checking for water supply blockages.

3. Electronics: Replacement of capacitor units, thyristors/transistors, and contact cleaning.

4. Diagnostics: Mandatory insulation testing and calibration of measuring instruments.
